Leo Schwartz is also a multi-award winning composer of musical theatre, film, and concert music. TILL, music and lyrics by Leo Schwartz with book by Leo Schwartz and DC Cathro, is one of the winners of the 2016 Mainstreet Musical Festival and will be presented nationally and in Canada in 10 – 12 cities. His current hit The Book of Merman ran for four months in Chicago and is currently being produced at numerous theatres around the country. HONOR, a musical, received two Joseph Jefferson Awards (“Best New Work” and “Best Musical Production” – a first in the 40 year history of the Jeffs). In March 2017, his work for orchestra, “Fantasia on a Theme of Bernstein”, will be premiered by the Capital Chamber Orchestra in Washington, DC. In 2007, the New York Musical Theatre Festival awarded his musical NAUGHTY!, the Director’s Choice Award and was presented Off-Broadway. In 2011, he won the “Gold Medal for Film Scoring” at the Park City Film Music Festival. Performances of his concert works have toured Europe and the United States. DC Cathro is a playwright, actor, and director in the Washington DC metropolitan area. His musical "Till," written with award-winning composer Leo Schwartz, is one of three winners in the 2016 Main Street Musicals Festival, and will receive readings throughout the year in the U.S. and Canada. In 2014, he became the only playwright to have two shows in the Pride Films and Plays Festival in Chicago, IL; "Pen, A Musical" (also written with Schwartz) and "Family Holiday." DC's works have also been read at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC and Maryland Ensemble Theatre in Frederick, MD.
